James Walter Wilson was born in Rawlins, Wyoming in 1917. He completed high school in Bowling Green, Ohio, and in July 1935 entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point., graduating four years later. General Hunter Harris (1909-1987) was commander in chief of the United States Air Force Pacific Air Forces, 1964-1967. He earned his pilot's wings in 1933 and served in the European theater during World War II.
